Decided to grab a 1993 Honda XR650L from craigslist late November 2015... It needed some love and attention.
here is how it looked when I picked it up:
and after a little tweaking, dirt tires, front fender, bark busters, new head pipe and muffler, removed decals, 2" risers, mini blinkers, new tail light and license mount, new tool bag, larger tooth sprockets
more to come!
Finally got Air Ride installed in the bagger, used a reserve tank for instant up... works and looks great.
Here are some lowered pics... just in time for winter.
Once again spring is starting out strong for the bagger... custom tank, rear fender, bags, floorboards, this machine is starting to take shape.
I had a lot of activity on the Harley this winter, stretched tank, stretched rear fender and stretched bags... starting to turn out pretty cool.
I decided to bring my bagger to the 2014 Minnesota International Motorcycle Show in January, had no intention of winning anything yet as I am not even close to done with this bike but figured I would check it out.
I did find out that my Yamaha was featured in the calendar though.... that was cool.

The Yamaha Made the Calendar !

I decided to actually ride my Yamaha to this bike show, ended up being a great day and another win for the rocket... I forgot how much fun this thing is to open up on the highway... here are some pics.
I was fortunate enough to get the cover and an article in the May 2013 Wheels of Thunder all sports magazine.
well I figured with the new paint and a few other tweaks I should enter into the Donnie Smith Bike show again... I entered late and didn't get my end spot so I could rope off the bike so I was fortunate enough to be in the deadline customs booth.... only downside is no stanchions and people kept touching my bike... not cool.
I did end up taking another best in show for some cash and trophy
here are a few pics from the event.
My Yamaha got some fresh new paint in preparation for the 2013 International Motorcycle show in Minneapolis. I managed to get things assembled with about 11 hours before the show ! the new paint is pretty sick so I expected nothing but a victory and I was not disappointed. thanks to Rick @ AutoRemodel.com and Money @ Deadlinecustoms.com for some great work on the paint.
I won a Virtual Bike Show put on by Yamaha and my bike was selected as one of the top 3 Yamaha Sportbikes in the country. I got invited to Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey California during the MotoGP world Championship to participate in a bike show of all the national winners.
I decided to ask my father to attend the show with me, we drove over 4000 miles to and from California in my avalanche averaging about 10 miles to the gallon..... overall it was a fun trip and met some cool people. You can see a video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uWnv1toMLI
